Taulia Tagovailoa, the younger brother of national championship hero Tua Tagovailoa, committed to Alabama on Saturday. Like his older brother, Taulia plays quarterback.
He played for Thompson High School in Alabaster, Ala., and is a three-star prospect. The Tagovailoas moved from Hawaii after Tua enrolled at Alabama.
"Alabama is where I feel most at home," Taulia told ESPN. "I want to be my own person and do my own thing. I've always seen my brother as the best quarterback, the best runner. So every time I do things, I try to compete with him and try to do better than him.
"When I talk to coaches, I tell them I want to be my own person, and I just try to control what I can control and show it on the field."
Taulia chose 'Bama over Florida, Ole Miss, Michigan and Tennessee, among others.
Tua Tagovailoa is in a huge quarterback battle with last year's starter, Jalen Hurts, this offseason. He brings in the momentum from last season's comeback national title win that he orchestrated — including the game-winning touchdown in overtime.
