Lance Stephenson is one NBA bad guy you can't help but love

Turned on the Cleveland Cavaliers-Indiana Pacers game Sunday night and a WWE match broke out.

All that was missing was the wrestling ring, Vince McMahon and blue-and-yellow tights for Loathsome Lance Stephenson.

Purists surely think Loathesome Lance is bad for basketball, not to mention a danger to LeBron James and the rest of the Cavaliers. But the truth is he’s must-watch TV and, even in the Cavaliers’ 104-100 victory in Game 4, came out looking like a winner.

With Rick Flair-like flair, he flopped and flipped and wrestled (for the ball and attention.). Somewhere, Dennis Rodman was smiling. But Loathesome Lance menaces with more mirth than Dennis did.

Ever see an NBA player strum an air guitar after draining a 3-pointer? Now you have, thanks to Loathesome Lance, who came off the bench and in 23 minutes had 11 points, six assists and multiple floor burns while getting under the Cavs’ skin like bed bugs.

The King acknowledged as much from his throne.

Sitting at the podium during the postgame press conference, James was asked about the technical foul he picked up with 6:12 left to play, when the Cavaliers had been clinging to a 91-89 lead and Loathesome Lance had been stalking him.

"There's a timeout called and there's a guy following me to my bench,’’ he said, referring to Stephenson. “I gave him a little nudge and he falls to half court. Come on.”

Loathesome Lance had set the bait, and LeBron had taken it.

"I should know better,’’ LeBron added. “I've been dealing with this since elementary school. It's like I tell you a joke and then you laugh and you get caught. That's what happened," James said with a smile. "Lance told me a joke, I laughed, teacher caught me and now I gotta go see the principal.”

If Loathesome Lance keeps it up, if he can take LeBron out of his game during the remainder of a series tied 2-2, the joke will be on the Cavs.
