Jordan Spieth led the Masters after Thursday’s first round. The 24-year-old shot a 6-under 66 in pursuit of his second Green Jacket and fourth major championship win.
The tournament continues at Augusta National Golf Club on Friday. Spieth gave himself a two-shot lead on Day 1, but nine players ended the day within three shots of him. Going wire to wire at the Masters is difficult, and a lot of golfers could make a run at him.
Follow along here for updates throughout Friday’s second round at Augusta. We’ll have live highlights and observations as players filter onto the course throughout the day.

Augusta’s hole locations for Friday
Previous updates from Thursday’s round:
All times are Eastern:
7:05 p.m. Jordan Spieth retains a strong lead coming off the course on Thursday — he finished with a 66, shooting 6-under on the day. He has a two-stroke lead with a everyone else having finished their rounds.
6:46p.m. Good lord, Jordan Spieth continues to dominate this back nine — he’s hit five birdies in a row, with his latest on 17. He now goes to his final hole with a three-stroke lead!
6:30 p.m.: Jordan Spieth continues to separate himself from the rest of the leaderboard, moving to 6-under through 16 holes to give tim a two-stroke lead. He’s birdied the last four holes! Rickie Fowler has birdied his last three holes too, he’s sitting at 2-under through 17. And check out this putt from Louis Oosthuizen on 16!
6:18 p.m. We have a new leader — Jordan Spieth moves to 5-under after a birdie on 15. Tony Finau is right behind him at 4-under. Charley Hoffman, Henrik Stenson, Patrick Reed, Haotong Li, Rory McIlroy, Matt Kuchar, and Adam Hadwin are all at 3-under.
5:55 p.m. Tony FInau has a neighbor on the leaderboard, as Jordan Spieth is now tied for the lead at 4-under through 14. Finau finished nicely at 18, hitting into the patrons on his second shot, but sinking a par putt to keep him a-top the leaderboard at the end of his round.
5:30 p.m. Tony Finau remains atop the leaderboard at 4-under as Thursday’s round starts to wind down. Behind him is Haotong Li, Charley Hoffman, Henrik Stenson, Patrick Reed, and Adam Hadwin, who are all at 3-under. Other notables still playing include Jordan Spieth, who’s also at 3-under through 13. Rory McIlroy is at 2-under through 13 on the day.
5:00 p.m. Haotong Li takes the solo lead at 4-under after a birdie on 15. Behind him, the leaderboard is staying pretty constant, with five guys at 3-under in Henrick Stenson, Charley Hoffman, Patrick Reed, Tony Finau, and Adam Hadwin. Finau still has a few more holes to go.
4:38 p.m.: Tony Finau is the new leader at 4-under, with Charley Hoffman, Henrik Stenson and Adam Hadwin finishing at 3-under. Finau has played consistently all day, but it looks like his ankle is starting to bother him — we’ll see if it affects his play at all. He still has five holes to go. Phil Mickelson is currently 1-over — he had a tricky shot to get off on 11 today from the trees.
4:05 p.m. The trio of leaders have stayed consistent, with Charley Hoffman, Henrik Stenson, and Adam Hadwin all in front at 4-under. Tony Finau, Patrick Reed, and Haotong Li are tied for fourth at 3-under. Jordan Spieth eagled at hole No. 8, putting him tied for seventh at 2-under on the day so far.
3:40 p.m. Henrik Stenson is your new leader, at 2-under through 15 holes, with Charley Hoffman as his co-leader through 14. Patrick Reed is one back through 15, along with Adam Hadwin. And Tony Finau, who dislocated his ankle Wednesday after celebrating a hole-and-one during the Par 3 contest, is amazingly also tied for third.
Tiger Woods finishes his round at 1-over.
3:15 p.m.: Like he did last year, Charley Hoffman is coming out strong. He’s 3-under through 14 so far. The 2015 Champion Jordan Spieth has started off well too, at 2-under through four holes so far. Marc Leishman’s double bogey on 15 drops him to 2-under. Tiger Woods hits a birdie on 16 to move him to 1-over — pretty up-and-down day for him today. And uhhh, the reigning Masters champ Sergio Garcia has completely fallen apart on No. 15, shooting a 13! WELP.
Correction: Sergio has now hit *5* balls in the water on 15. This will set a dubious record for strokes taken on the hole in Masters history.

3:04 p.m.: Tiger Woods has historically done well on par-5s at Augusta. Not so much today. He parred all four of them, most recently the 530-yard 15th. Woods played some army golf on his first two shots, going right and then left. He couldn’t hit a 26-footer for birdie. On the bright side, the 15th could’ve been worse: Playing partner Marc Leishman double-bogeyed to fall from a share of the lead to two shots back of it. Henrik Stenson now leads at 4-under.
2:44 p.m.: Tiger Woods birdied No. 14 to move to 2-over. It was just his second birdie of the day, and it came after a string of disappointments at Amen Corner. He needed it. Meanwhile, Jordan Spieth’s put up back-to-back birdies at Nos. 2 and 3.
2:27 p.m.: Tiger Woods has made par on all three of the par-5s he’s come across so far, most recently the 13th, where playing partners Marc Leishman and Tommy Fleetwood each made birdie. Woods is at 3-over, seven strokes back of solo leader Leishman at minus-4. Tiger’s let some opportunities pass him by on these par-5s. He missed a makable 12-footer that would’ve delivered him a birdie at the 13th.
2:11 p.m.: Things still aren’t going well for Tiger Woods, who just bogeyed the par-3 No. 12 and is having a difficult time at Amen Corner. But things could’ve been worse, because he was in the water off the tee and had to drain a 15-footer from the fringe just to save the bogey. He did, and the wheels aren’t falling off, but he needs some birdies soon.
1:57 p.m.: Tiger Woods bogeyed No. 11 to move to 2-over for the day. It’s an inauspicious start to his trip around Amen Corner. He hit a drive well wide of the fairway and wasn’t able to sink a 19-foot putt to save par.
1:40 p.m.: Vijay Singh dropped a shot, meaning Marc Leishman is the sole leader at 3-under through 10. Leishman’s never won a major, but he’s the world’s No. 16 player.
1:29 p.m.: Vijay Singh, who’s 66 and doesn’t make all that many cuts anymore, is tied atop the board with Marc Leishman at 3-under. The 2016 Open champion, Henrik Stenson, is making a bit of a charge late in the front nine. He’s gotten to 2-under, tied for third with Bernd Wiesberger. Tiger Woods is still at 1-over.
1:04 p.m.: Tiger Woods is 1-over through eight holes. He labored a lot on the two par-5s on the front nine, which have historically been among the better birdie opportunities on the course. Woods parred both of them (Nos. 2 and 8) and looked kind of iffy in doing it.
12:47 p.m.: It’s time to pay serious attention to Marc Leishman, who’s quietly been one of the best players in the world for a while now and is putting together a lovely Thursday. Leishman is the solo leader at 3-under, a shot up on Vijay Singh. The Aussie is the world’s No. 16 player, and he’s squarely in the “best guy out there without a major win” discussion. He seems interested in getting out of that discussion as soon as possible.
12:14 p.m.: Woods bogeyed No. 5, making two of those in his last three holes and putting him 1-over for the day. Marc Leishman’s the current leader, alone at 2-under.
11:49 a.m.: Tiger Woods liked his tee shot at first on the long par-3 fourth hole, but it ended up short and in a greenside bunker. He two-putted for his first bogey of the day, and he’s back to even par for the tournament.
11:38 a.m.: Tiger Woods played his first two holes at even par, but he just birdied No. 3 to put himself in red numbers. This is exciting:
11:25 am.: Four players are now under par: Vijay Singh at minus-3 and Justin Thomas, Mark O’Meara, and Marc Leishman all at 1-under. Thomas and Leishman both birdied No. 2 early.
11:11 a.m.: It’s still really, really early, but just two players are under par so far: Vijay Singh at 3-under and Mark O’Meara at 1-under. So far, today’s been about the old guys.
11:03 a.m.: Vijay Singh is still chugging along on the front nine. He’s moved to 3-under through four and is two shots clear of anyone else in the early going.
10:58 a.m.: Tiger Woods made par on his first hole of the tournament. He hooked his drive pretty far to the left and wound up in some pine straw, but he played nice second and third shots to set up a tap-in in four. The patrons are, unsurprisingly, on his side.
10:42 a.m.: Tiger Woods is teeing off now, but early attention’s on another veteran. Vijay Singh has started 2-under through three holes and is alone in first place.
10:29 a.m.: Tiger Woods is on the range at Augusta National. You already knew this was happening — he tees off at 10:42 a.m. — but it’s still a sight to see.
10:13 a.m.: Check out this brilliant putt by Wesley Bryan at No. 4, which only saved par but was still impressive:
9:54 a.m.: Here’s the honorary starters ceremony from earlier this morning, featuring legends of the sport Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player. This is the second year the ceremony’s gone on without Arnold Palmer, and that’s not easy. But it’s still a lovely golf moment:
9:38 a.m.: The first handful of groups are off the first tee, making the 2018 Masters a thing that’s officially underway. Ryan Moore started 1-under through 3 holes, making him the sole leader at the Masters. Congrats to Ryan Moore on this probably not-fleeting moment.
