GREEN BAY, Wis. -- The Green Bay Packers placed linebacker Krys Barnes and quarterback Jordan Love on the reserve/COVID-19 list Friday.
A source told ESPN that Barnes received a positive test Friday morning after he played in Thursday's win at the 49ers. Barnes had no symptoms as of Friday afternoon, the source said.
Love, a former high school teammate with Barnes in Bakersfield, California, shares an apartment with Barnes in Green Bay and is believed to be considered a close contact.
The Packers picked Love in the first round of this year's draft and signed Barnes as an undrafted free agent.
Barnes played 23 snaps on Thursday while Love was inactive.
While Love is considered a close contact -- not a positive case -- it's the first time it's impacted the Packers' quarterback room.
Coach Matt LaFleur said they will take extra precautions with Aaron Rodgers and the quarterbacks.
"We just can't afford to lose a room," LaFleur said. "You saw basically with San Francisco what they went through with that receiver room. That's something that we have to make sure we avoid to the best of our ability, so spacing out is going to be a priority, masking up is going to be a priority, has been a priority, both of those things. I feel like we've done a really good job with, but just being really mindful where we're putting people in every room, maybe do a few more things virtually."
When asked whether he thought the game should not have been played Thursday, LaFleur said: "It's something I put zero thought into and, you know, we're just going to, that's above my pay grade. If they tell us we're going to play, that's exactly what we're going to do and just do the best job we can."
Earlier this week, rookie running back AJ Dillon tested positive while fellow running back Jamaal Williams and linebacker Kamal Martin were placed on the reserve list as close contacts.
