Clippers' Lou Williams put in 10-day NBA quarantine after strip club visit - New York Post

Los Angeles Clippers guard Lou Williams is set to miss the first two games of the NBA restart after being caught at a gentlemen’s club in Atlanta. The NBA is putting Williams in a 10-day quarantine, which began Saturday when he re-entered the NBA bubble in Orlando. The Clippers play the Lakers on Thursday, the first night of the restart.

Williams, 33, reportedly left the NBA bubble with an excused absence to attend a funeral, and made an additional stop at Magic City to pick up some dinner later in the evening. Rapper Jack Harlow captured Williams at the strip club on Thursday night with a drink in his hand while wearing the NBA mask given on the Orlando campus.

“That was an old pic of me and Lou,” Harlow tweeted after quickly deleting the Instagram story post. “I was just reminiscing cuz I miss him.”

Williams, according to reports, admitted to the NBA that he stopped into Magic City.

During the NBA’s quarantine period, players must undergo daily COVID-19 testing, but if a player who leaves for an excused absence continuously tests negative, he can return for a quarantine that’s as few as four days,, according to the NBA’s health and safety protocols. Re-entry quarantine time could be extended up to 10 days if recommended by the league’s infectious disease specialists.

New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson was placed under four-day quarantine after returning from an excused absence. If Williamson is cleared to play after his quarantine, he’ll be available to play on opening night of the bubble restart on Thursday against the Utah Jazz.

While there are currently no rules about what players can do during their time off campus for an excused absence, ESPN insider Bobby Marks believes that the league should add more restrictions.

“The league should make an amendment to the exit/re-entry protocols to add,” Marks tweeted Saturday night. “A player that leaves campus for a valid reason must limit their interactions to people and places that directly relate to the stated emergency.”

Aug. 3 is set to be Williams’ final day of quarantine. After playing the Lakers, the Clippers face Williamson and the Pelicans on Aug. 1.
