Dallas Cowboys still haven't fired Jason Garrett. Social media is responding with memes. - Chron

Updated

To quote Ted Knight's Judge Smails in the comedy classic "Caddyshack": "Well? We're waiting!"

Four NFL coaches have been fired and one already has a new job, but the Dallas Cowboys and owner Jerry Jones seemingly still haven't made a decision on the fate of head coach Jason Garrett.

See the hilarious memes that have spawned from the Cowboys not yet making a decision on Garrett in the gallery above.

Traditionally, the day after the end of the regular season, aptly named Black Monday, is when most NFL coaches and front office personnel on the hot seat learn their fates. This year, ex-New York Giants coach Pat Shurmur and some Miami Dolphins assistants were among the Black Monday casualties.

But Black Monday came and went, and Garrett was still head coach of the Cowboys heading into Tuesday.

Then, reports started leaking of a Tuesday afternoon meeting between Garrett and Jones, which many assumed would Jones' moment to strike.

But New Year's Eve came and went, and Garrett, as of Wednesday morning, is still the Cowboys head coach.

While most reports indicate that Garrett is indeed still getting ousted, social media isn't exactly known for its patience. Plenty of other teams are already making moves for their 2020 coaching staffs, so fans are understandably frustrated that Garrett's future is still unknown.

Since becoming head coach in 2010, Garrett has compiled an 85-67 record in nine seasons with Dallas. During that stretch, the Cowboys have only made it to the playoffs three times and have never advanced to the NFC title game.

Expectations are routinely high for "America's Team," so plenty expected this year's disappointing 8-8 campaign to be the straw that finally broke Garrett's tenure.

Until Jones and the Cowboys eventually ... finally ... make it known what the plan is, we'll all just have to try to be patient.
