The first official recruit of the Penny Hardaway era at Memphis is his son Jayden.
Jayden Hardaway is a 6’5 guard who also played for his father at Memphis East High School and on Nike’s EYBL circuit for Team Penny.
Hardaway made his announcement on Instagram:
Hardaway averaged just over four points per game for Team Penny last season. He is not listed in 247 Sports recruiting database. Hardaway will be scholarship (not a walk-on) at Memphis:
Jayden Hardaway will be on scholarship at Memphis.

Hardaway also landed Alex Lomax, who officially committed shortly after Jayden Hardaway. Lomax is a four-star point guard who recently decommitted from Wichita State. Lomax also played for Hardaway at Memphis East and on Team Penny.
Memphis hired Hardaway as the coach in large part because of his connection to the local high school scene. He won three state championships at Memphis East and coached some of the country’s top recruits, including James Wiseman, the No. 1 overall prospect in the class of 2019.
Hardaway’s success at Memphis will be measured by if he can secure top recruits from the area like Wiseman and Chandler Lawson. His work is just getting started.
