Both teams are now 1-2 through three games. The 37-year-old Fitzpatrick led the Dolphins to touchdowns on their first three drives, as the Dolphins took a 21-7 halftime lead. Fitzgerald, who completed his first 12 passes, threw two touchdown passes while completing 90% of his throws. He also ran for a touchdown that extended Miami's lead to 28-7 near the end of the third quarter. Fitzpatrick was aided on offense by running back Myles Gaskin and receiver DeVante Parker, who combined to amass 164 total yards on 32 touches.
While Fitzpatrick had no issues moving his offense, the same couldn't be said for Garner Minshew, who certainly missed receiver D.J. Chark, who was inactive due to injury. While Jacksonville's vertical passing attack never got on track, the Jaguars did receive another strong outing from rookie running back James Robinson, who scored two touchdowns while gaining 129 all-purpose yards.
The night's biggest defensive play was turned in by Dolphins linebacker Kyle Van Noy, whose force and recovery on a Minshew fumble set up Minshew's touchdown run. Miami's second turnover was forced by cornerback Xavien Howard, whose fourth-quarter interception of Minshew sealed the Dolphins' first win of 2020.
