We are about a day away from the NBA trade deadline, and the deals are already starting to roll in. On Tuesday night, the Houston Rockets, Minnesota Timberwolves, Atlanta Hawks and Denver Nuggets reportedly agreed to a blockbuster trade sending Robert Covington to Houston and Clint Capela to Atlanta. Now the rest of the NBA has a day and change to respond, and fortunately, there is still plenty of talent to go around.
D'Angelo Russell is one of the biggest names still on the board, and Minnesota is still in hot pursuit. The first-round pick it acquired in the Covington trade could be redirected to Golden State in a trade, but apparently nothing is imminent on that front. Someone far likelier to be dealt is the player Golden State moved to accommodate their original acquisition of Russell: Andre Iguodala. The Memphis Grizzlies have been adamant about their refusal to buy him out, so a trade before Thursday's deadline remains likely. Adding to the pressure is a recent report from David Aldridge of The Athletic saying that Iguodala will sit out the entire season if he isn't traded by the Grizzlies. Memphis has no reason to keep him, so expect Iguodala to land with a championship contender shortly.
